Custom Web Design for Small Businesses in South East London

A custom website, built from scratch by one person in East Dulwich. No templates, no page builders, no lock-in contracts. You get a site that looks nothing like everyone else's and runs faster than sites costing five times as much.

What you get

A complete, hand-coded site designed specifically for your business. Every page is built from the ground up in pure HTML, CSS and a small amount of vanilla JavaScript. No WordPress, no Wix, no Squarespace, no page-builder bloat.

  • Custom design, not a template. A layout drawn for your business and your visitors, not slotted into someone else's grid.
  • Hand-coded for speed. Sites ship under 500KB on the first load. Lighthouse scores 95 or higher on mobile.
  • Mobile-first responsive. Designed on a phone, scaled up to desktop. Not the other way round.
  • Full local SEO setup. Proper schema markup, geo tags, area served, title and meta tags written by hand.
  • Real content, written or edited. I help rewrite headlines, trim the waffle, and make sure the homepage does its job in the first screen.
  • Accessibility built in. WCAG 2.1 AA as the minimum bar. Keyboard navigable. Screen-reader friendly.
  • You own everything. The code, the domain, the files. No monthly subscription, no platform lock-in.

The price

Projects start from £350 one-off. A five-page site for a clinic, salon, cafe or trade typically lands between £350 and £1,500 depending on scope.

After launch, it's £30 a month. That covers hosting, ongoing management, any tweaks you want to the site (copy changes, new pages, image swaps, seasonal updates), and continued local SEO work (schema, citations, Google Business Profile, monthly rankings check). Rolling month to month. No minimum term.

If the project is more complex (booking systems, multiple languages, e-commerce, integrations with existing software), the price goes up proportionally and I tell you before starting. Every quote is fixed. No hourly rates, no surprise invoices.

How the process works

  1. Quick call. 20 minutes. What do you do, who's it for, what does a good outcome look like. No pitch, no pressure.
  2. Fixed quote. I write back within 24 hours with a specific number and a rough timeline, usually 1-2 weeks.
  3. Design and build. You see the site on a preview link as it comes together. You feed back, I iterate.
  4. Go live. Once you're happy, I push it live on your domain. Same day.
  5. After launch. £30/month covers hosting, management, tweaks and continued SEO. Rolling, cancel any time.

You only pay the invoice once the finished site is on a preview link and you've signed off. If you don't like it, you don't pay. I've never had to write that sentence for real.

Who it's for

Small businesses with real customers who deserve a real site. Clinics, salons, cafes, trades, creative practices, studios. Typically one to ten staff. Usually based somewhere in the SE postcodes — East Dulwich, Crystal Palace, Peckham, Camberwell, Herne Hill, Forest Hill, Brixton, Bermondsey, Sydenham, Nunhead, New Cross, Lewisham, Catford, Brockley, Honor Oak, Deptford, Greenwich — but I'll work anywhere in London.

If you're a FTSE-100 retailer or a VC-backed SaaS, I'm not the right studio. You want an agency with a project manager and a Slack channel. If you're a local business owner who wants one real person to build them a proper site, that's exactly what I do.

Real work

See the two latest builds:

  • Crystal Palace Osteopathy — a mobile-first rebuild for a registered osteopath in SE19. Lighthouse 98 on mobile, full MedicalBusiness schema, live in 12 days.
  • Hamlet Podiatry — a boutique rebuild for a Harley Street and NHS-trained podiatrist in Dulwich SE22. Photographic hero, editorial reviews carousel, live in 14 days.

Common questions

Do I get ongoing support after launch?

Yes. £30/month covers hosting, ongoing management, any tweaks to the site (copy changes, new pages, image swaps, seasonal updates), and continued local SEO work (schema maintenance, Google Business Profile updates, citations, rankings monitoring). Rolling month to month. No minimum term.

What if I need changes later and I'm not on the monthly plan?

Ad-hoc changes are charged per job and quoted before any work starts. Usually £30-150 depending on scope. No retainer required.

Can I move my existing domain to a new site?

Yes. Domain migration is included in the build price. I handle the DNS, the redirects from the old URLs, and the transfer.

How long does it take?

Typically 1-2 weeks from the brief being signed off to the site going live. Larger projects take longer, but I'll tell you upfront.
