A Schema Markup Service for Google and AI Search

Schema is the hidden code that tells Google and AI exactly what your business is, what you offer and who you serve. Most websites have almost none of it. Stagg Studios builds it and keeps it maintained, every month.

In short

Schema markup is code added to your website that labels what each page actually is, in a format machines can read directly instead of having to guess. It is one of the clearest signals Google and AI systems use to understand a business, and most independent websites have little or none of it. Stagg Studios provides a schema markup service for UK businesses: we build the right schema.org types for your specific business, keep them maintained as your site changes, and never oversell what schema alone can do. It is part of our flat monthly plan, £100 a month or £1,000 a year, with no lock-in.

Every website has two audiences. One is the person reading it, who understands photos, layout and tone without being told. The other is software, Google's crawler and the systems behind ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, which read code, not impressions. Schema markup exists for that second audience. It is the difference between a machine guessing what your page is about and being told directly.

What schema markup actually is

Schema markup, more precisely schema.org structured data, is a shared vocabulary that businesses add to their website's code to describe their content in a standard way. It is usually written as JSON-LD, a block of structured text placed in the page that a visitor never sees but a machine reads clearly. Instead of a search engine inferring from surrounding text that a name is a business, a person, a product or a review, schema states it outright: this is an Organization, this is a LocalBusiness, this is a Service with this description and this price.

Google has used this kind of structured data for years to power rich results, the star ratings, opening hours and FAQ dropdowns you see in search listings. What has changed is who else is reading it. AI systems that answer questions directly, rather than returning a list of links, lean on exactly the same kind of clearly labelled, structured information to work out what a business does and whether to mention it.

Why it decides whether Google and AI understand you

Without schema, a search engine or an AI model has to infer meaning from ordinary page content, which is unreliable. Wording changes, layouts differ, and important facts can sit in places a machine struggles to parse confidently, inside an image, behind a script, or spread across a page without clear structure. With schema, the same facts, your business type, your services, your location, your prices, are stated plainly in a format built for machines to read without ambiguity.

That matters for two separate outcomes. On Google, correct schema can win you rich results that make your listing stand out and, more fundamentally, helps the crawler categorise you correctly. For AI, it is more basic still: a model deciding what to say about your business is far more likely to get it right, and to say something at all, if the underlying facts are clearly labelled rather than buried in prose it has to interpret.

The honest truth about schema

Here is the part most agencies selling schema will not say plainly. Structured data is necessary, but it is not a guaranteed AI-citation trick. It helps machines read and understand you correctly, and it can win real rich results on Google, both worth having on their own. But whether schema alone increases how often AI engines cite a business is genuinely mixed evidence, not a proven lever anyone can pull with certainty.

So we sell it as exactly that: a necessary foundation, not a magic switch. Being cited by AI also depends on being genuinely useful, being present in the sources these systems trust, and being readable in the first place, schema is one part of that picture, not the whole of it. We would rather implement it properly and tell you the truth about its ceiling than sell you a one-tag fix that does not exist.

What Stagg Studios actually builds

The right types for your business

We add schema.org types that genuinely fit, not every tag available. That typically means an Organization block, LocalBusiness or a more specific type where relevant, Service markup describing what you offer, FAQPage markup where you have real questions and answers, and Product markup for a shop.

Properties that describe you accurately

Beyond the basic type, the properties matter: your correct name, address, opening hours, price range, service area and contact details, kept consistent with what appears elsewhere about your business, because contradictions confuse machines as much as missing information does.

Validated, not just present

Schema that contains errors can be ignored or, worse, misread. We validate what we implement so it is not just present in your code but actually structured correctly.

Maintained as your site changes

Schema is not a one-off tag you set and forget. New pages need it, prices and services change, and platform updates can quietly break existing markup. As part of the monthly plan we check and maintain it, rather than leaving it to drift out of date.

What you get

  • An audit of what schema, if any, is already on your site
  • The right schema.org types implemented for your specific business
  • Organization, LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ markup where relevant
  • Product markup for shops and price or offer details where applicable
  • Validated markup, checked for errors rather than just present
  • Ongoing maintenance as your site and services change
  • A plain-English note of what changed and why, each month
  • No separate schema fee, it is included in the flat monthly plan

Honest limitations

We will not tell you schema guarantees a ranking or a place in an AI answer, because no one honest can promise either. Its effect on AI citations specifically is mixed rather than proven, and it is one input among several, alongside genuine usefulness, being mentioned in trusted sources, and overall readability. What we can promise is that your schema will be implemented correctly for your actual business, kept valid and current, and never oversold as something it is not.

Simple, honest pricing

Schema is part of our one flat monthly plan: £100 a month, or £1,000 a year, which saves two months. No separate schema fee, no tiers, no long contract, cancel any time. Agencies and multi-site businesses get a bespoke quote instead. Full details on our pricing page.

Questions people ask

What is schema markup?

Schema markup is a standard code, usually written as JSON-LD, that labels the content on a page in a language machines understand directly. Instead of leaving Google or an AI system to guess whether a name on the page is a business, a person or a product, schema states it plainly. It sits in the page's code and is invisible to a normal visitor.

Does schema markup guarantee I will be cited by ChatGPT?

No, and anyone who tells you it does is overselling it. Schema helps machines read and understand your pages correctly, and it can win rich results in Google, both of which are genuinely useful. But the evidence that schema alone increases how often AI engines cite a business is mixed. We treat it as a necessary foundation, not a guaranteed AI-visibility trick, because that is what the evidence supports.

Do I need schema if my site already ranks well on Google?

Usually yes, because ranking well and being understood correctly are not the same thing. Schema can still win you rich results in Google's listings, and it is what lets AI systems read your pages confidently rather than guessing. A site can rank and still be misread or skipped by an AI assistant if the underlying markup is thin.

Which schema types do you use?

Whichever ones actually apply to your business, not a scattergun of every tag available. That commonly means Organization, LocalBusiness or a more specific type, FAQPage where you have genuine FAQs, Service, and Product markup for a shop. Adding types that do not fit your business adds noise rather than clarity, so we are selective.

How much does a schema markup service cost?

Schema is part of our flat monthly plan: £100 a month, or £1,000 a year, which saves two months. One plan, no separate schema fee, no tiers, no long contract. Agencies and multi-site businesses get a bespoke quote instead.
